Planning your next holiday? Here's where you should - and shouldn't - go
It's about this time every year we realise how much we love holidays. It happens again after Easter and Anzac Day. Those days away from the grind? That's when we get the chance to plan the next break.

This makes sense - we will not have another five-joined-together-minutes to plan anything for quite some time. Well, at least that's how it is in my life.
So, let me make this easy for you. I'm going to tell you where not to go. Definitely. And then I'm going to make some suggestions.
First, do not go to the US. Just don't. It's run by a leader who is both chaotic and cruel. Australians have already had a hell of a time visiting what used to be one of our top holiday destinations. But since Trump took over, it is not possible to have any confidence in the process. It was bad enough with completely arbitrary decisions by border security officials. That saw Australians being turned away and losing thousands of dollars on planned trips.
But then, as if that wasn't enough, the US decided it wanted to see our social media accounts. Australians who access the speedy Visa Waiver Program, the entry system into the US designed to make short-term travel easier, may soon be required to show US authorities their social media data from the past five years to get into the country.
Is there a person in Australia who has not criticised Donald Trump on social media? And if there is, perhaps they should move to the US.
So clearly North America is no go - and now it turns out South America is a danger zone too. First, Trump has annexed Venezuela. Now he looks to have plans for Colombia. (Let's hope he's not on a conquering anti-clockwise binge, otherwise Ecuador and Peru should be deeply concerned). Also, please don't go to Greenland, no matter how........
