So much for Mr No-One-Left-Behind. This is a national shame

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was elected promising "no one held back, no one left behind". Almost three years later, some people are doing extremely well while millions are struggling to put food on the table.

We like to believe that we're the nation of the "fair go", the "lucky country". A place people can live a stable, safe and happy life.

But the vision of Australia as a place where everyone can secure a home, a decent job, be included in the community and retire at a reasonable age, is becoming further from reality rather than closer.

Rising prices have pushed more people into deep financial distress.

Too many people are afraid. They're scared they won't be able to pay their next round of bills, and they're anxious about their financial future.

We regularly hear heartbreaking stories of people forced into impossible choices: cutting back on food and medicine or even avoiding family and friends to save money.
