Bessent Warns of ‘Socialist Hellscape’ if Democrats Take Power

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent touted President Donald Trump’s economic record Wednesday night at the Republican National Midterm Convention while issuing a stark warning about what he says Democrats would do if given control of Congress.

Looking to the future, Bessent said that in order to honor the first 250 years of the United States, Americans must “meet the obligations of the next.”

“Our obligation begins by making this country work again for the very people who sustain it,” Bessent said.
