George Kittle Self-Medicates With Tequila After Suffering Injury
George Kittle’s season ended in brutal fashion, but the 49ers star tight end apparently found a spirited way to take the edge off.
San Francisco advanced to the NFC Divisional Round after eliminating the Philadelphia Eagles, though Kittle won’t be part of the playoff push after tearing his Achilles during the win. The injury immediately ended his season and carries a long recovery timeline. (RELATED: Foo Fighter’s Guitarist Pat Smear Suffers ‘Bizarre Gardening Accident’)
As a temporary coping mechanism, Kittle reportedly downed a bottle of medicinal tequila gifted by team owner Jed York, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.
Here’s what I found out:
*It was Patron tequila
*The bottle was sent from the owner from his suite to Kittle after he requested it
*That bottle is now empty https://t.co/QZkdLAXXD3

Russini later clarified that Kittle was seen polishing off a full bottle of Patrón tequila, which he had specifically requested and which was delivered from owner York’s suite. The scene, while grim in context, was a familiar sight to many adults after an especially rough day.
“Here’s what I found out: It was Patron tequila,” Russini wrote on X. “The bottle was sent from the owner from his suite to Kittle after he requested it. That bottle is now empty.”

The loss cuts deep on multiple levels. In the short term, Kittle is sidelined during the most important stretch of the season, unable to continue as San Francisco makes its playoff push. Longer term, a torn Achilles brings a punishing recovery process that can take a year or more before a full return to form.
As coping mechanisms go, there are worse ways to process a sudden and painful end to a season. The moment struck a chord with fans, many of whom wished Kittle well as he begins rehab and prepares to watch the rest of the postseason from the sidelines.
