A key architect of Zohran Mamdani’s successful political campaign traveled abroad in February, revealing a stunning level of delusion.

Mamdani has been mayor for how long … two months? Yet one adviser behind his campaign seems to be getting way over his socialist skis, and his new foreign project proves it.

Morris Katz, who was a senior adviser in Mamdani’s inner circle and, through his marketing agency, made political ads for the mayoral campaign, traveled to the United Kingdom in February to meet with Labour and Green Party parliament members, candidates, and fellow consultants. With a whiff of Leninism, Katz told Politico, “The fight against the aligned interests of the oligarchy and the far right is an international one, and I’ll try to be helpful wherever I can.”

Mamdani has added a “block party” to the official inauguration events to allow thousands of New Yorkers to take part. Apparently, left-wing Brits have been titillated by the Mamdani campaign’s social media efforts, which pumped out several viral videos showcasing populist politics and affordability messages. Never mind that Mamdani has been in power for two months. Never mind that his entire agenda might collapse by the end of the year. Governing successfully doesn’t seem to matter as much as going viral on X.

James Carville, the legendary political consultant, offered a fantastic quote to Politico that got buried deep in the piece. Carville pretty much admitted the entire political and campaign consulting business is a racket, and that operatives aren’t some magical gurus who can apply their special touch to any campaign, whether it’s here in America or in a small London borough, and turn it into gold. They’re just networkers.

“A guy gets elected, and they like you, and somebody calls: ‘Hey, somebody from such and such called us,’ and they’ll recommend people. I mean, it’s a kind of networking thing,” Carville told the outlet. “The perception is our political consultants are better than they actually are.”

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – MARCH 03: New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani prepares to attend a press conference on Universal Childcare at the Sugar Hill Children’s Museum of Art & Storytelling on March 03, 2026 in New York City. Mamdani was joined by Gov. Kathy Hochul and Kamar H. Samuels, Chancellor of New York City Public Schools, as they announced the first phase of Universal Child Care that will begin this fall for children under five years of age across the state. The program is intended to strengthen the existing 3K program to achieve universal care. The first year will focus on “high-need areas” selected by the city, and then expand across the city by the fourth year. (Photo by Michael M. Santiago/Getty Images)

He added, “A lot of people hired me just to say we got Clinton’s guy.”

That says a lot, doesn’t it? Maybe the Ragin’ Cajun was never some political genius; he just had a close connection with one of the most powerful families in America.

And there is something to be said about modern politics, and how politicians are really quite good at winning elections, but not actually governing. Look no further than Congress. Representatives seem to care way more about getting reelected every two years than legislating. Perhaps if they put half as much effort as they put into their campaign operations into the business of governing, their approval rating wouldn’t be stuck south of 30%.

Katz isn’t much different. Mamdani could bankrupt the city, turning it into a crime-infested slum, but hey — those ads on social? Those were straight fire.

Maybe New Yorkers will sour on Mamdani. Maybe his brand of politics will become even more unappealing to the entire country, not just those in the Big Apple. It’s good, then, that Katz is exporting Mamdanism abroad when he can, before the entire project goes up in flames.
