Why Swindon Town can finally be optimistic about their team

As Harry Smith poked his toe out and diverted the ball beyond Luke McGee, everything went ballistic like it was January 2013 all over again.

Unlike back then, Swindon were giving themselves a greatly increased chance of survival rather than slaughtering teams like a supercharged samurai and scoring more goals than any team in Europe but the feeling was familiar. I think that night at Colchester United might be a tired comparison point now but these sensations felt years off, not just two months.

An electric nine minutes saw Swindon go from a large thud back down to earth into yet another euphoric final salvo where the fans and players got to celebrate as one. I have not known anything like it watching Swindon and even with the shreds of my match report on the ground behind me, I was happily tapping away about the gloriousness of the evening.

After months of having very few pictures of Swindon........
