The addition of Tom Nichols has been a huge boon for the Swindon Town attack and he has instantly proved he was the missing piece Ian Holloway said he was.

Two assists and no goals do not exactly jump off the screen from six starts but Nichols has had a massive impact since arriving on loan from Mansfield Town.

Ian Holloway said the 31-year-old was “exactly” what his squad lacked with his football brain and ability to link the play and that has been plain to see so far.

Where Town have improved the most from an attacking point of view is their domination of the space between the lines. With Harry Smith and Nichols, Swindon are constantly able to win the ball between the opposition’s defenders and midfielders and make them pay.
