Mixed reactions to opening of Swindon's Popeyes restaurant
Wiltshire’s first Popeyes restaurant has opened its doors on Fleming Way, drawing crowds and sparking strong reactions from locals.
The chain welcomed dozens of eager customers on the morning of Monday, November 24,
One person queued for as long as 19 hours for a chance to win a year’s supply of chicken sandwiches.
While the fanfare was unmistakable, the arrival of the fast food giant has divided opinion across Swindon.

Much of the discussion online centred on whether Popeyes represents a welcome new addition to the town, or a worrying sign of the times.
Simon Hill said: "Bit sad when this is the most exciting thing to happen in Swindon for a long time."
Others expressed concern about the impact on health and local infrastructure, as Keith Malin said: "There is an obesity crisis in this country.
"So another fast food chain is opened."
