Do me a favor: The next time you’re at home with your kids, fire up their TikTok accounts (or, if you’re ready to admit you’re on TikTok yourself, open your own). Chances are strong, very strong, that one of the first pages you’ll see is someone dancing.

Call it the “TikTok effect,” or just great content, but dance is currently the No. 1 or 2 most-viewed content on there. Dance is one of the oldest forms of human expression, but thanks to popular TikTok trends and videos, YouTube and other social media — as well as mind-bending choreography in movies like “Wicked” or on television shows like “Dancing with the Stars” and recent star-studded performances at the Grammys and Academy Awards — it’s never been more firmly represented in the cultural spotlight.

This trend is something to be enormously proud of, not just as a form of entertainment, but as a springboard of health and fulfillment for our families.
