A Coronation Street actor who has been on the soap for more than two decades is set to be leaving the programme for a brief period.

Jimmi Harkishin, who plays Dev Alahan and has been involved in some big storylines over the years, will pack his bags and head to India in upcoming scenes.

Dev will find out that his aunt Gita has had a fall and will head to India to be with his family.

He will leave behind his partner Bernie - played by Jane Hazlegrove - and his children Aadi and Asha,
