Bay Area bridge closing for a weekend, diverting I-80 drivers

For a full weekend this month, Caltrans is closing a major Bay Area bridge’s westbound access to conduct road repair. Travelers on Interstate 80 bound for San Francisco will have to circumvent the Carquinez Bridge, also known as the Alfred Zampa Memorial Bridge, for 53 hours.
The bridge will allow one-way, eastbound access only from Friday, Aug. 21, at 10 p.m. until 3 a.m on Monday, Aug. 24. The bike and pedestrian path is also closing during this period.
