Bay Area brewery that refused to charge $10 for a beer is closing after 8 years

After over eight years of brewing and serving beer in a pretty pink-hued, plant-filled space in Oakland’s Temescal neighborhood, Roses’ Taproom is closing. Artists turned brewery owners Hillary Huffard and Luke Janson shared the news on Instagram over the weekend, writing, “This is brutal.”
“Where we found ourselves early this year was looking at a business model that was no longer financially viable,” Huffard told SFGATE.

Huffard said Roses’ Taproom was costing too much operate. Also, as a brewery with just seven barrels, it was too small to operate a robust enough wholesale program to be sustainable.
