A beloved San Francisco taco operation announced its impending closure on Instagram this past weekend. The last day of business, for the foreseeable future, is Saturday.

“Wow! What an amazing ride. Al Pastor Papi will continue in another time, in another form,” read the post. “But for now we will be halting operations in the trailer.”

Al Pastor Papi, otherwise known as Miguel Escobedo, gained a cult following after he opened his taco trailer in 2018. Escobedo’s enterprise specialized in al pastor tacos from a trompo, a rotating spit of marinated pork with a juicy pineapple at the top.

Over the past six years, the business grew in popularity thanks to the delicious food, media hype and a savvy social media presence. Escobedo’s posts often place his burritos or tacos in pictures of memorable sports moments through the use of Photoshop. In........
