Phil Lesh, founding bass player of the Grateful Dead, died Friday morning, according to a post on his Facebook page. The revered musician was 84 years old.

Lesh, who was born in Berkeley in 1940, originally formed the Grateful Dead alongside Jerry Garcia under the name the Warlocks in 1964. The band would go on to define the psychedelic sound of San Francisco, initially writing........
