GARDEN CLIPPINGS: In praise of Mandaumin Woods
Fifteen minutes is all it takes to walk the loop at Mandaumin Woods Nature Reserve.
Fifteen minutes is all it takes to walk the loop at Mandaumin Woods Nature Reserve.
It is with hesitation that I recommend visiting Mandaumin Woods. Not because the one-kilometre loop isn’t worth the trip, but because if too many folks use the trail, it may face damage from too much activity.
So far, the Mandaumin Woods does not have an interpretive centre, washrooms or multiple storyboards. The only evidence of woods management is the logs that have been cut to stumps serving as steps when the trail is muddy.
The Mandaumin Woods Nature Reserve is a 10-minute drive from my house, sitting about halfway between Sarnia and Petrolia.
For residents of Sarnia, it is our closest accessible undisturbed........
