The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton annual general meeting took place March 29, resulting in several announcements.

“At the (meeting,) we typically welcome new board members, review the progress we made as an organization over the past year, and do some planning for the future,” said board president Jason Killingsworth.

The United Way board had to say goodbye to John Girard. The AGM was his last meeting because he has served as a volunteer board member for 10 years and, per United Way policy, he must step down for at least one year.

“We thank John for his hard work over the decade, and we want him to know how much we appreciate his support,” said Killingsworth.

Vicky Ducharme, campaign chair for the United Way over the past five years, will fill John’s vacancy on the board. The board........
