Why is George Clooney the only major California Democrat calling for Biden to step aside?

As the Democratic Party pulls itself out of the rubble left over from President Joe Biden’s debate performance, they’re whistling Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t worry, be happy.”
In California, the epicenter of much of the action in the national party, it’s almost painful to watch senior Democrats not say what they actually think.
Vice President Kamala Harris, House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Gov. Gavin Newsom, U.S. Senate nominee Rep. Adam Schiff, Sen. Alex Padilla and most of the congressional delegation are whistling the same tune, right past the graveyard.

This time, the graveyard is the consequence of their reticence: The possible wipeout of American democracy.
If former President Donald Trump, a twice-impeached sociopathic felon wins, the tune they’re whistling now will be a dirge.
Oddly, the only major California Democrat calling it correctly is the actor George Clooney, who wrote a candid, heartfelt appraisal of President Biden and his debate performance on Wednesday for the New York Times Opinion section.
In the piece, Clooney said that “the one battle he (Biden) cannot win is the fight against time. None of us can. It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal’ Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020.
