A Dream Deferred
The life you want does not appear when conditions are perfect; it appears when you decide to make it happen.
High achievers who lead sustainable careers are those who practice rest and self-care regularly.
Modeling joy and intentional living for others is an act of leadership and courage in choosing oneself first.
For years, I had a dream I kept putting off.
This dream was born from an exercise about what my ideal day would look like. In my vision, I woke up every morning without an alarm, with nowhere to be, and nothing in particular I had to accomplish except to enjoy my life. I felt fulfilled, happy, and present, challenging myself and learning, creating lasting memories with my family.
In my dream, I immersed myself in foreign lands, soaking up culture, tasting extraordinary foods, and experiencing life at a slow pace. I was surrounded by nature and felt deeply connected to myself again.
This was a dream I kept putting off every year. Because the fear always shows up right on schedule.
An extended trip? Can you really be away that long? What about your work and patients?
Do you know how much this is going to cost?
Two sets of traditional ethnic parents. Are you out of your mind? How are they going to get along? What if they hate every second of it? What if everyone's miserable and you spent all this money and came home with nothing but regret?
Your brain will make every excuse.........
