Here we are, more than a year later, and some elected representatives in the U.S. still don’t get why we took the Kentucky bourbon and Tennessee whiskey and California wines off our shelves.

Canadian response to American actions
Last summer, the Trump administration was calling Canada “mean and nasty to deal with” because of our refusal to sell their products and our new reluctance to vacation in the U.S.
A March 2026 report on foreign trade barriers from the office of the president highlighted the American alcohol ban and noted that the U.S. would continue to “press Canada to ensure that U.S. alcohol beverages immediately and permanently return to all provincial and territorial markets.”
