Let's hope these dates end without a disaster, writes Marian Bashaw in her letter to the editor
June 24th in Newfoundland and Labrador is a day of celebration and pride. It’s a provincial holiday that marks 528 years since John Cabot arrived here.
We will honour National Indigenous People’s Day — previously known as The June Holiday or Discovery Day — with our flags, both official and unofficial. We’ll plant flowers and vegetables in our gardens, walk along our trails and oceanfronts, get together with our families and be truly grateful for living in this wonderful place.
