LETTER: Honouring those affected by cancer and their caregivers

On World Cancer Day, we focus on those affected by cancer, including those who care for people battling the disease

A day to focus on those who are affected by cancer and to increase awareness about this disease and its impact.

Cancer can impact various parts of patients’ lives, including their studies and work, relationships with family and friends, physical, financial and emotional health, and more. Most of the time, it is not an easy diagnosis to go through.

During these challenging times, caregivers provide critical support. At a minimum, they keep the appointments, home-care, and family, financial, and patient well-being on track. Oftentimes, their hard-work and needs remain unnoticed, except by those who are closest to them.

We know this because we have or witnessed caregiving experience.
