At some point in the next few days, Paul Jenkinson will pull his blue 2017 Subaru Forester, the one with 207,000 clicks on it, up to a curb somewhere in this province

He will walk over to some public place. There he will make sure his sign — announcing the You are not alone, I will listen Cross Country Journey — is visible to passersby.  

On arthritic knees, this septuagenarian Lucy van Pelt will lower himself into one of the two Dutch-designed plastic chairs he has arranged around a small wooden table.

Chances are he will take a meditative sip from his black Tim Hortons coffee.  

Then, this man who adheres to the teachings of Jesus Christ and Siddhartha Gautama, better known as the Buddha, will wait. 

Though 70 years old, Jenkinson is in no hurry.  

Last week, he moved the start of his one-man campaign to three different locations in the Truro area.

This isn’t some kind of performance art. He just sits there patiently waiting until someone, reluctant at first, pulls up a chair. Eventually, in a low-key way, he asks, “What would you like to talk about?” 

And they begin.  

All told, eight people spent a little time with him during these two- or three-hour stops.  

The Middleton-born air force brat doesn’t promise miracles.
