Santa’s Elf Patrol makes Christmas brighter for Buckhorn seniors

Ever heard of Santa’s Elf Patrol? Some elves get started months before Christmas so they can meet and treat some of the grandmas and grandpas in the area who need a little extra help with food at Christmas time. The elves have had a great time in the last four years when on patrol delivering their boxes and perhaps finding new people to treat next year.

Pam Dickey, the chief elf, wanted to enhance the gift basket program at Community Care. She called Mayor Terry Lambshead and he told her to come to a council meeting, make a presentation describing what she wanted to do and the councillors would see what they could do.

That was in the fall of 2022 — COVID time. Dickey knew many of the senior shut-ins she wanted to help as she talked to many of them daily during the pandemic. Her presentation to council demonstrated her sincerity and the council gave her........
