‘How do you stay so positive?’: Look for rainbows, not rain
“How do you stay so positive?”
This question caught me off guard, but only for a moment. Dancing on one leg at the Pride and Boba event at Milk Tea on Saturday night, I was nursing a pulled hamstring while still having a blast.
The query came from Achint, the manager of education at the Peterborough AIDS Resource Network, during a lull in the music. For a guy who smiles a lot, Achint still seemed to need a boost.
I cocked my head as I formulated my response.
“I’m like a goldfish,” I told him. “I just keep looking ahead and forget about the stuff that has frustrated me before. I learn from it, but I keep going.”
Further, I choose to focus on the potential in people and seek out solutions to problems, rather than complaining.
Then I kept on dancing up a storm.
As if on cue, mayoral candidate Michael Eamon walked in the back........
