Potter experiences Zen focus while creating in clay
Kawartha Potters Guild member Sharron Hayton started creating pottery 10 years ago when she was part of a group of women who registered for an introductory pottery class at the Kawartha Potters Guild. She’s been hooked since then.
Throwing on the wheel is her favourite method of making pottery.
“I love the Zen experience of being singularly focused on working the clay with my hands,” says Hayton. “Lately I’ve also been doing more hand building. Last year my daughter got married at the Canadian Canoe Museum, so I hand built small ceramic canoes for each of the guests. They made a perfect accent to the table settings and a sweet memento of the special day at the spectacular venue.”
Hayton has been a member at the guild for about 10 years. Over the past several years she has hosted its Saturday........
