Thanks to the generosity of a Peterborough Examiner reader, Astrid and I were able to have a new photographic experience recently.

One of the readers emailed to let us know he had discovered either a fox or coyote den on his property and welcomed us to come photograph it if we liked. Of course we accepted his invitation and upon arriving were led through a beautiful wooded trail to the back edge of the property.

Just as we arrived near the den site, we saw one of the pups emerging. Astrid got into position where she could see the entrance better and began to hold up fingers as more pups climbed up the ramp out of the den. One finger … two fingers … three fingers … five fingers … seven fingers; until finally eight fingers were held up. We could not believe it! From that point on it was chaos. We did not know........
