Trent Valley Archives (TVA) is hosting a book launch of “Spirituality & Culture in Local Community: 1775-2025” by Harmen Boersma, with a forward by historian and TVA archivist Dr. Elwood Jones.

This event takes place Thursday, June 25, from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Living Hope Church, 1 Consumer Pl., just off Lansdowne Street East.

“This book tells the story of various kinds of spirituality and how they can affect the daily life of a community. It follows two founding civilizations, Indigenous (Anishinaabe) & European immigrant, and how they meet in the Peterborough area, originally with curiosity and co-operation later deteriorating to hostility and betrayal. This relationship continues to evolve as more immigrants arrive bringing their own understanding of what it means to be spiritual with them,” reads a release for the event.
