A special birthday celebration in honour of Primrose the donkey will be held Aug. 23 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the PrimRose Donkey Sanctuary. Although Primrose has been gone now for five years, her memory is very much alive.

“Prim was more than just a donkey; she was the beginning of a dream, the heart behind a sanctuary, and the reason PrimRose Donkey Sanctuary, located north of Cobourg, exists today. Every year, we celebrate her birthday, because her story didn’t end when she passed. Her legacy lives on in every donkey we rescue, every visitor we welcome, and every life that is touched by the sanctuary she inspired,” reads a post on the sanctuary’s Instagram page.

Come out to the sanctuary and celebrate with all the donkeys. Birthday cake will be served to the donkeys at 1 p.m. and there will be live music by David Seale, and refreshments and snacks for the visitors. Donations will be gratefully accepted.

The sanctuary is located at 1296 Bowmanton Rd., Roseneath.
