Aces of Harmony hits the right note at Spring Convention
The Aces of Harmony, a men’s a cappella chorus based here in Peterborough, had a very successful spring season. During Spring Convention in Belleville late last month, the group won its division and brought home yet another trophy. Performances of “When My Baby Smiles at Me” and “Smile” won it the highest score it has achieved since director Diane Martin took over the lead.
The Aces specialize in barbershop-style harmonies. Its repertoire includes a diverse range of music from pop to swing and rock. It hosts a Fall Show every year (this year on Oct. 4), perform at regional shows and entertain at retirement residences and other venues throughout the year. It also hosts a singing valentine fundraiser each February. Proceeds from the fundraisers go to support Sing Canada, supporting youth in song.
The group welcomes new members to come out and experience the joy of barbershop harmony. Don’t worry if you can’t read music, the group has the tools and all the help you need to develop your musical talent. Rehearsals take place........
