IN a moment of profound historic significance, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have sealed a landmark Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA) — a pact that redefines the security architecture of the Muslim world and signals a decisive step toward collective strength and deterrence against external aggression.

According to official reports from the Government of Pakistan, the agreement clearly stipulates that any act of aggression against one of the two nations will be regarded as an act of aggression against both.
