Pakistan’s renewed battle against terrorism

PAKISTAN is once again confronting an alarming resurgence of terrorism that threatens not only national security but also the country’s economic ambitions, social cohesion and regional stability. A series of coordinated attacks in Balochistan including the Mangi Dam area of Ziarat, Quetta’s outskirts, Bela and Winder alongside persistent violence in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, has claimed the lives of security personnel and civilians, underscoring the evolving sophistication of militant networks. These incidents have triggered intelligence-based operations (IBOs) by Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies, reaffirming state’s resolve to eliminate terrorism.

The current security landscape is shaped by multiple extremist organizations pursuing distinct ideological and political agendas.
