FIELD Marshal Asim Munir’s recent addresses at the National Defence University and the Corps Commanders Conference matter because they do something speeches rarely manage in difficult times. They replace hesitation with direction.

The message coming out of Rawalpindi in early July was less about ceremony and more about resetting how Pakistan defines its security. By placing critical national lifelines and territorial integrity in the same frame, the Army Chief has aligned the military’s compass with the country’s real vulnerabilities.
