‘He’s believing in this team’: Oilers fans react to Jason Dickinson’s five-year contract
Edmonton Oilers fans received their first bit of big news this off-season as the organization announced they signed forward Jason Dickinson to a five-year contract worth $4 million per year.
There were rumblings that the centre would fetch around $5 million, which worried some. However, after the deal was announced, fans were pleasantly surprised by the contract and quickly expressed their opinions on social media. Others, however, noticed its faults as well.
Reactions are off of X, the Oilersnation comment section on Facebook, Instagram , and the Oilers subreddit on the Jason Dickinson deal
Ken Holland put Edmonton in a hole. Stan Bowman has dug it deeper and begun shopping for coffins and a tombstone since taking over. He has handed out some dogs**t contracts. – PuckEmpire via X
Probably had to give the 5th year to get the AAV down. I like this signing for the Oil. It bolsters a bottom 6 that was -14 last year (5×5) while solidifying the PK. Now go get Murphy signed. – Klimas Lid via X
Big fan of this for Edmonton. Weak UFA market and they’re able to keep a defensive 3C at a really good price who worked well with them after being acquired. Rising cap makes this deal great, even if he slows down in........
