It’s been a few seasons to forget for Mattias Janmark. His first season with the Edmonton Oilers came in 2022–23, scoring 10 goals and 25 points in 66 games. Since then, his production in the regular season has been minimal at best, scoring just seven goals and 28 points over 194 games in his past three seasons.
Granted, Janmark has been far more productive in the postseason. During the Oilers’ 2024 playoff run, he scored four goals and eight points in 25 games, the same number of goals as he scored in the regular season. The following postseason saw him score three goals and four points, edging out his two goals in the regular season.
Before undergoing season-ending surgery, he had scored just one goal and eight points in 43 games, another unproductive season, so he didn’t play any postseason games either.
By all accounts, Janmark should be ready for training camp. But that begs the question: Does he even have a role on the 2026–27 Oilers?
