The two things needed to deliver final justice for Nottinghamshire's ex-miners

There is one phrase riling former Nottinghamshire miners more than any other at the moment - "at pace". This vague expression is now being deployed on a regular basis by the government to describe its commitment to delivering pensions justice to former colliery workers across the country.

The trouble with "at pace" is that every day of waiting is another day that six miners in one pension scheme will die. Action quite literally cannot come quick enough, yet as ex-miners gathered over the weekend to mark a decade since the closure of Nottinghamshire's last pit, the wait continues.

It is not as if miners haven't already been waiting for far too long anyway. This pensions battle has been raging for years and in late 2024, the first bit of positive news finally came with confirmation that those in the biggest pension scheme........
