The body of Marcus Holmes was discovered on December 7 last year having died at the home of a friend in South Quay, Great Yarmouth.

The 37-year-old had been allowed to stay temporarily while he tried to get back on his feet but was declared dead by emergency services after he was found hanging there.

Norfolk Coroner’s Court heard he had been preparing to begin new employment at a chicken farm just days before his death.

But an emotional testimony from his mother, Dawn Kerrison, revealed her son had become so low about his inability to give his children a stable home life that he sought her permission to end his life.

“He just wanted somewhere he could call home where his children........
