Former nightclub to reopen as 'really fun' three-storey venue

The former Karma Kafe in Bedford Street will shortly undergo a major transformation thanks to business partners Pete Harvey and Steve Mantle.

The duo also run The Ten Bells, The Drawing Rooms and The Wildman in Norwich and The Hero pub in Burnham Overy Staithe.

"We got the keys for the Karma Kafe last August," Mr Harvey said. "We've been working on designs and plans ever since.

"We want to make sure we run really fun venues - somewhere for everyone to have a good time.

"It’s cool to see a project through from design and conception to completion."

The pair hope they can reopen the site at the start of May, but it won't be returning to its former guise as a nightclub.

Instead, the site has been reimagined as Three Stories - three bars with slightly different vibes across the three-storey building.

"The street has changed, the dynamics have changed," Mr Mantle explained.

"The ground floor will reflect a similar vibe to The Wildman, it will feel like The Ten Bells on the first floor and the Drawing Room will come alive in the basement.

"Three different stories, spread across three storeys in the city of stories."

Fupburger, which has been serving food at The Ten Bells, will take over the kitchen, serving an extended menu including burgers and pizzas.

When the site came to the market, it was an easy decision for the pair to take a look.

"We are big fans of Norwich city centre, we love the lanes and Bedford Street," Mr Harvey added.

"The Karma Kafe has the same postcode as The Wildman, which was our first venue, and it feels like home here."
