'Lucky' civil servant who worked during Winter of Discontent celebrates milestone

Miriam Croxen, who lives at the Warren care home, Sprowston, marked the milestone with a champagne reception attended by friends, relatives, staff and fellow residents.

Born in 1926, Miriam grew up in North Walsham, where she lived with her brother. She later moved to Surrey and began working as a civil servant.

Between 1976 and 1979 she served as a secretary in the government of prime minister James Callaghan.
