Caste discrimination at Koodalmanikyam temple?: Human rights panel takes suo motu cognizance
Thrissur: Following allegations of caste discrimination after removal of a backward-class employee from the Koodalmanikyam temple in Thrissur due to protests from temples priests, the Human Rights Commission has suo motu registered a case.
“The matter has come to our notice and we are holding discussions with various officials and trying to settle the matter”, said a senior member employed at the Cochin Devaswom board.
Commission member V Geetha has directed the Cochin Devaswom Commissioner and the Koodalmanikyam Executive Officer to conduct an investigation and submit a report within two weeks.
