Thiruvananthapuram: Amidst the protest by the SFI and the KSU over governor Rajendra Arlekar participating at an event where Bharat Mata portrait being placed, the Kerala governor attended the program and spoke for 22 minutes.

During the speech, Governor Arlekar spoke extensively on the emergency days and condemned the act of the government machinery that had used brutal force to silence free speech.
