'Empuraan' movie row : Censor board removes 24 portions; BJP leader approach HC seeking ban
Ernakulam: The controversy over the recently released Malayalam movie ‘Empuraan’ is never looking to lay to rest anytime soon. With the makers agreeing for re-censoring where it has agreed to remove certain portions, the matter has taken a political turn with Congress and CPM hitting out at BJP and the RSS.
The re-edited version of ‘Empuraan’ has 24 cuts, not 17 as initially reported, according to the latest certificate issued by the Censor Board of Film Certification.
Notable changes include renaming the main villain from Balraj Bajrangi to Baldev, removing Central Minister Suresh Gopi’s name from the thank-you card, and muting references to the NIA.
