New Delhi: At some point in history, humans discovered fire, the wheel, the printing press, and electricity—each a leap in human progress. But now, we seem to be witnessing a different kind of evolution. An evolution where intelligence is no longer something we nurture but something we outsource. Enter Generative AI, the tool that’s turning our once glorious mental efforts into something eerily effortless. Instead of flexing our own intellectual muscles, we now push a button and let an algorithm do the heavy lifting.

Take a look around, and you’ll see people—professors, researchers, analysts, and that one friend whose LinkedIn posts were once the envy of all—now happily churning out AI-generated content. It’s as if the entire intellectual world has discovered a vending machine that dispenses essays, social media posts, and even text messages. The machine is shiny, it’s new, and everyone is obsessed with it. No more struggle, no more effort—just a prompt, and voilà, a ready-made piece of writing, almost as if the words are born without the writer breaking a sweat. It’s both fascinating and, if I’m being honest, a little tragic.

Fascinating, because AI has indeed proven itself to be a marvel of convenience. We’ve now got machines that can articulate thoughts (sort of) and write faster than any human could hope to. Yet, tragic, because so many brilliant minds—who spent years honing........
