World no. 361 Boisson stuns third seed Pegula in biggest shock of French Open 2025
New Delhi: World number 361 Frenchwoman Lois Boisson produced the biggest upset of the French Open 2025 with an eye-catching fourth-round victory against third seed Jessica Pegula. Boisson, a wildcard entrant, came into the main draw after tearing an anterior cruciate ligament in her knee last year, and never in her wildest dreams would she have imagined a result like this.
Backed by the packed crowd on Court Philippe Chatrier, Boisson registered a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 win against the US Open 2024 runner-up. The Frenchwoman, who is making her debut in the main draw of a Grand Slam, had never played an opponent ranked in the world’s top 50 before this week.
The 22-year-old, fighting back from one set down, saved four break points in the decider........
