Jinxi: A homeowner in China has expressed regret after refusing government compensation for his property, which is now surrounded by a highway.

In Jinxi county, Jiangxi province, tofu vendor Ye Yushou rejected a compensation offer of 1.6 million yuan (Rs 1.92 crore) and two homesteads in 2022. He demanded 2 million yuan (Rs 2.4 crore) and three homesteads instead. The negotiations failed, and authorities chose to build the G206 highway around his home rather than increase the offer.
