Prayagraj Mahakumbh stampede during Mauni Amavasya Amrit Snan Live Updates: At least 30 people have been dead in stampede at the Maha Kumbh during the ‘Amrit Snan’ early Wednesday morning on the auspicious occasion of Mauni Amavasya. Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a judicial probe as well as a separate police probe to probe the stampede.

Earlier, seers urged devotees not to insist on taking a holy dip only at the Sangam. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to UP CM Yogi Adityanath in the morning and assured him every possible help. Crores of devotees from India and around the world have descended here for the holy bath in their quest for ‘moksha’.

Following a massive stampede in Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Baba Ramdev has appealed to people to maintain self-discipline while visiting the Kumbh festival. He said the government and the administration are fulfiling their duties, but people need to maintain self-discipline.

Gorakhpur: Railways have cancelled dozens of trains in view of the Maha Kumbh stampede in Prayagraj that killed 30 devotees. Following are the cancellation and rescheduling of the trains:

Prayagraj administration had issued strict orders that no VIP protocols would be allowed. Today, the Mela administration enforced this directive, ensuring that no VIP protocols were entertained. This rule will remain in place for all major bathing festivals, said DIG Vaibhav Krishna during a press conference on Wednesday.

According to senior Prayagraj police officials including DIG Vaibhav Krishna, there was a huge crowd on Akhara Marg in at Maha Kumbh between 1 am and 2 am on Tuesday morning before the Brahma Muhurta. Due to the surging crowd, the barricades on the other side collapsed prompting people to cross over causing trampling of devotees who were waiting for the Brahma Muhurta holy dip.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath has ordered UP Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh and DGP Prashant Kumar to visit the stampede site and submit a report on the matter. A three member judicial probe committee will also be formed to probe the matter.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath has made a slew of announcements following the stampede at Maha Kumbh that killed 30 people and injured 60.

Anjani Kumar Rai, a sub-inspector level police officer who has served as SHO at various police stations, was among the deceased in the stampede. He died while rescuing trapped devotees. Anjani was on duty at the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh. Rai was previously posted at multiple police stations and was currently stationed at Bahraich Police Lines.

At least 30 people are confirmed dead and over 60 injured in the Maha Kumbh stampede in Prayagraj on Wednesday morning during Mauni Amawasya Snan. Meanwhile, UP CM Yogi Adityanath has announced a judicial probe into the stampede incident. He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh for each of the deceased.

Senior UP police officials conducted a briefing on Wednesday evening confirming the deaths and injuries at Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. In a six minutes briefing, the UP police officials left the press conference without answering questions posed by the media. The deceased devotes belong to UP, Assam, Karnataka and Gujarat.

Most of the people are said to be stranded on various routes since Tuesday night. Reports said the stranded people face hunger and thirst. A long queue of vehicles stretching up to 20 km has been reported along the route to Prayagraj. Several devotees are feared dead in the stampede that broke out at the Sangam area of the Maha Kumbh early Wednesday.

All major and other routes leading to Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj have been shut since Tuesday night or before 100 km before the city. Highways were closed down last night, and even the rural roads leading to Prayagraj have been barricaded.

Several Prayagraj-bound vehicles stuck on MP-UP border: Vehicles carrying thousands of devotees to Maha Kumbh were stuck on the border between Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh in Rewa on Wednesday due to huge crowd in Prayagraj.
