Cooperative, competitive Federalism: Key to India’s economic growth

New Delhi: Speaking at the inaugural function of the Global Investors’ Meet organised by the Government of Karnataka in Bengaluru yesterday, Union defence minister Rajnath Singh, said “If as an investor, you seek world-class infrastructure, Karnataka is now offering next-generation infrastructure facilities. If you require skilled human resources, Karnataka stands out with its highly talented and future-ready workforce.”

It is quite uncommon for a Union minister, that too of the stature and seniority of Singh, to be invited and then him agreeing to speak at an investors summit organised by a non BJP-ruled state.

According to ‘India Today’, he commended Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s statesmanship in inviting him to the event despite their political differences. “We belong to different parties and are political opponents. His magnanimous gesture eloquently displays his statesmanship. It raises above limited considerations to work together in the spirit of fraternal ties,” Singh said.

Addressing investors, Singh highlighted India’s improved business climate. “India no longer presents investors with red tape, we instead roll out a red carpet for them,” he said.
