Heat sparks food delivery boom as urban residents seek shelter indoors

New Delhi: Citizens of urban areas rely on food delivery services since that prevents them from enduring extreme heat, according to Nature Cities. The study, adopting data from 100 Chinese cities between 2017 and 2023, revealed a sharp increase in food delivery orders on days that reached 35°C and higher, especially during lunchtime. The trend can be seen as cities are increasingly turning to these services due to the escalating effects of climate change.

This work also revealed that this behaviour is highly demographic; the women, the rich, and the elderly among the population are the most frequent users of food delivery during heatwaves. As the protection from heat exposure is........
