Anthropic adds invisible watermarks to all Claude AI-generated text and files

Anthropic is adding invisible, machine-readable watermarks to text generated by its Claude AI models. The company will also attach C2PA-based provenance metadata to supported files processed by Claude.

New Delhi: Anthropic has introduced machine-readable watermarks to the content created or manipulated by its Claude AI models. The marks won’t show up to users but will stay in the text after it’s been copied and pasted, the company claims.

This is a step Anthropic is taking to comply with Article 50 of the European Union’s AI Act, which mandates transparency. The system will enable users and third parties to detect content created or manipulated by Claude, the company states.
