New Delhi: What began as a missing persons report of a newlywed couple on their honeymoon in Meghalaya has now turned into a chilling murder mystery, with police alleging a sinister plot of betrayal, premeditation and deception.

Raja Raghuvanshi, 28, was found dead on June 2 in a gorge in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills, days after he and his wife Sonam were reported missing. Initially thought to be a case of robbery gone wrong, the investigation soon uncovered a more sinister reality. According to police, Sonam, 24, allegedly conspired to have her husband murdered just four days after their wedding — with her longtime lover, Raj Kushwaha, playing a major role.

Sonam and Raja were married on May 11 and set off for their honeymoon on May 20. On May 23, the couple was seen trekking in Nongriat with three........
