Yunus government starts Operation Devil Hunt, will it end unprecedented violence in Bangladesh?

The situation in neighbouring country Bangladesh is continuously worsening and in the latest development violence broke out in Gazipur district on the outskirts of Dhaka after which the law and order situation in the area deteriorated. In the violence some miscreants attacked the house of an Awami League leader and former Liberation War Affairs Minister Mozammel Haque, injuring several people.

It is worth noting that since the coup against Shiekh Hasina on August 5, attacks on the houses and offices of Awami League leaders and workers have been continuing. The Gazipur violence was part of this wherein the attacking students moved towards the house of Mozammel Haque but faced resistance from locals and his supporters for the first time. The local people took these students as robbers after which the clashes started and the students involved in the attack were beaten up badly. This incident was a part of the widespread violence that erupted on Wednesday night over Sheikh Hasina’s online address. 70 attacks have been reported in 35 districts of Bangladesh since Wednesday.

After this violence, Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh Mohammad Yunus ordered ‘Operation Devil Hunt’. This operation........
